ART FROM THE HEART (The Story)

“Being fashionable and helping others is Priceless”

- Dalia Piñeiro -

Is my definitely my favorite quote, is not just because is mine, but because it represents who I am, what I like, my goals and helping others is definitely the first one. I always try my very best to support as much causes as I can, in every way I can; that’s why when I know there is a charity event I am there, and I feel really miserable when I see that people sometimes do not support this kind of causes even if they can.

“A child dies every six minutes due to the Somalia famine”

- Somalis -

Is not a quote at all, is a sentence full of sadness, helplessness and hopelessness, WOW, so many cruel words to describe such a short sentence. Don’t you think?

Well, “hopelessness” not anymore, last Saturday 1st Oct Art From The Heart (a day for Somalia) an event organized by the W hotel and Qatar Charity, joined the talent of many artists (photographers, painters, jewelry designers, fashion designers and mural artists) to raise funds for this worthy cause.

Nigel Downes with his Photo Corner, FUN portraits was an amazing way to get more donations, such a great idea, everybody enjoyed it including me :)

‘Art for a new start’ The brainstorming corner was very productive, due to many ideas were presented by the artists and those who attended te event; that might be applied on the next events to encourage people to express their solidarity with Somalis in this case, but also with many other causes.

So, talking about  ... Cheap and Chic ... Chic? Do not forget my quote “Being fashionable and helping others is Priceless” Charity is one of the smartest ways to be Chic... and cheap? QAR 100 cheap cheap cheap cheap.

Special Thanks to Galateia Androulaki, Maha Helmi, Lamis Sabra, Maha Al Sulaiti, Nayla Ahmad and Kevin Donohue; leaders of this event, Great job, great team guys!

Enjoy helping,

My favorite jewelry EMMY AWARDS 2011

I would love to start with the winner of the night FABULOUS Kate Winslet in Elie Saab. I adored her perfect and immaculate look; wearing diamond encrusted earrings and a platinum/diamond bracelet by Cartier.

The best dressed of the night Precious Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang; wearing these stunning pair of Chandelier Colombian emerald/gold earrings, to create the perfect look. Out of the box, don’t you think so?

Gwyneth Paltrow wearing white diamonds and black diamonds chain links bracelets by Neil Lane; my favorite is the black one.

Taraji P. Henson wearing a domed cocktail ring by Fred Leighton.

Anna Torv in Vera Wang; wearing these FABULOUS earrings by Lorraine Schwatz.

Julie Bowen in Oscar de la Renta; wearing oval shaped faceted black diamond and platinum earrings by Neil Lane.

Cobie Smulders wearing a spectacular diamond and aquamarine cocktail ring by Neil Lane.

Lea Michele in Marchesa, wearing a cocktail ring by Lorraine Schwartz.

My advice to you is GO BIG; all these beautiful actresses were wearing lot of full size jewelry to stamp their signature.

Neil Lane, Fred Leighton and Lorraine Schwartz, were definitely the preferred designers by the actresses.

Looking for a dazzling Abbaya?

Last Sunday 10th of July 2011; The WAADdesigns team celebrated their first fashion show and launched the line of the upcoming designer "Waad". The event took place at Qatar Foundation-recreation centre.

After 3 months of preparation QFashioneers emerged as the name of their first fashion event that brought together all the fashion lovers in Doha. “Affordable Elegance” was the main idea; and I really like thisbringing up the theme of the collection “Elegance” with many different cuts and fabrics from French organza to Italian tulle that were used to create divine flowers that only added to the luxury and individuality of the pieces.

WAAD started with the traditional Abbayas and she has expanded upon the request of her very loyal clients to design evening gowns, jackets and blouses.

WAAD thoughts “My aesthetic is very ethereal, I love flowy fabrics and embellishments which I personally add to tailored pieces by hand”

So, talking about  ... Cheap and Chic ... Chic? WAADdesigns are made of unique and luxurious fabrics, just gorgeous! they express style, elegance and softness... and cheap? She thinks that anyone can look amazing without running her monthly budget! I love the way she thinks ☺ she has made her mission to stop overpricing of Abbayas, her prices are very reasonable from QAR 500 to 1000, and her evening custom made gowns from QAR 1000 up to QAR 2500; So, Great news! There is a dress for every budget!

Looking for the Best earrings for your face shape?

Oval Face: "Everything Goes"

If you have an oval face, you can wear any style of earrings. The most flattering earrings are those with a teardrop shape, go medium, go long like Uma Thurman at Festival deCannes 2011 wearing these stunning pair of pear shaped emerald earrings by Chopard; by the way, she looked gorgeous wearing a Versace Fall 2011 gown, perfect match for those earrings, don’t you think so?

Cascade of emeralds, Fabulous!

Oblong Face: “Go Short”

If your face is Long and thin “Close to the Ears is the key”; whether you're choosing earrings for everyday or for a night out, stud earrings with a outstanding gemstone will definitely enhance your look. Avoid long, thin or dangling earrings.

Don’t miss Angelina Jolie at Festival de Cannes 2011 wearing white diamond cushion earrings set in yellow gold and a stunning yellow cushion set diamond bracelet of her own jewelry collection, the Style of Jolie, developed with jeweler Robert Procop. Lovely!

Loved the Versace gown, but maybe in another color

Round or Full Face: “Go Long”

Long, narrow and oval earrings, especially those with gemstones will perfectly balance the roundness of your face. Avoid small earrings. Check Penelope Cruz at Festival de Cannes, wearing these gorgeous Set with two pear shaped rubellites earrings and the spectacular Smoke blue jewel encrusted illusion dress by Machesa

She looked amazing after pregnancy, What do you think?

Heart-shaped Face: “Go Oval”

With a Heart face, you'll look elegant in short earrings with a oval or round shape, which will favor the angles of your face. Avoid pointy earrings; do not miss Fan BingBing wearing Cartier and her Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 beautiful lime gown.

Nominated Best dressed, She should win!

Square Face: “Go Medium Size”

A square face is very well balanced by medium-sized round gemstone, hoops or circular earrings will give the face some roundness. Please avoid Squares or rectangles earrings. here is Salma Hyek at Festival de Cannes 2011 was adorned with the earrings paved with pearls and diamonds by Boucheron, I also felt in love with her gorgeous Gucci dress, Fabulous! Latinas al poder!
