Do you know what is Anima gallery & lounge?


Anima gallery & lounge, is a concept gallery that targets people in search of artistic inspiration. 

The gallery is linked to an upscale lounge offering its visitors the chance to interact, watch art videos and read art magazines and books. Moreover, the gallery will schedule art and sculpture classes in collaboration with Qatar’s prominent universities and colleges.

The opening ceremony of Anima gallery and lounge will take place today March 24, 2012 when the gallery will open its doors for its opening exhibition “Together We Connect”

The exhibition will showcase the works of international artists; Jason Martin, Billy Childish, Tracey Emin, Bernard Frize, Tom Sachs, as well as works by renowned regional artists Hassan Hajjaj, Mohamad-Said Baalbaki ‘Baal’ and Abdulrahman Katanani.  The inaugural exhibition will also feature three pioneering Qatari artists - Yousef Ahmed, Ali Hassan and Amal Al-Aathem.  

Twelve other artists represented by Anima gallery and lounge will also be at the event to talk about future exhibitions. The artists are Charbel Aoun, Emmanuel Guiragussian, Elie Bourgely, Faraj Dham, Jean-Marc Nahas, Jean-Paul Guiragossian, Jehad Al Ameri, Manuella Guiragossian, Mayak, Mohamad Al Amri, Najia Mahadji and Nuno De Matos.

The First Central Asia Cultural Festival Debuts At Katara


Last Wednesday 21st of March, Katara, the Cultural Village, announced that it will be hosting the first Central Asia Cultural Festival starting on March 23rd. The six day event will offer a variety of performances from dance groups to opera arias with tickets now available at Virgin Mega stores.

With participating countries from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Republic of Tuva (Province of Russian Republic-Siberia), the festival which will run until March 28th will feature a wide variety of events from Opera singers to Violin, fashion shows, Ballet dancing and much more.

Kambarkan is fairly regarded as the most famous folk ensemble in Kyrgyzstan which is using people’s ethnic music traditions with modern music. Founded in 1988 Ensemble KAMBARKAN, it has visited many foreign countries representing cultural Kyrgyzstan and received numerous awards, including Toktogul’s State Award. Its repertoire consists of traditional Kyrgyz music with different modern covers and also fragments from famous Kyrgyz epic “Manas”

In 2004 Ofarin “became a laureate at the international festival” Summer Festival “in South Korea, the 2006 winner of the international festival” Kassalka “in Kazakhstan (Astana). The theater’s repertoire is not only the Uzbek and oriental dances, and modern dance and dances of the peoples of the world. Performers dance “Ofarin” visited on tours to Indonesia, Korea, China, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, Japan and France, as well as almost all CIS countries.
